Bhavani Vad

Bhavani vad is one of the oldest recorded trees in the city, a part of the city’s natural heritage. Although the floods of 1962 managed to rot the great Bhawani whose reference is found in many European travelogues as “a huge great tree, being a very popular place of worship for the baniyas of Surat” — the temple here exists till date and customary garbas are played out beginning with an ode to the goddess.
